What is mindfulness - simplified and demystified

Mindfulness derives from ancient Buddhist meditation.

The term mindfulness has arisen through scientific evidence showing the neurological shifts in the brain that occur with regular meditative practice; reducing the areas of the brain associated with stress reaction and increasing the areas of the brain indicating contentment, reasoning and joy.
